It's The Little Things

So much going on, so much to do! So today I'm going to be thankful for the little things in life!

I'm taking all my spray tan equipment with me for my weekend away (my family wants to try it out!). My tent is getting pretty gross with spray tans so Travis folded it up and is taking it to the car wash today to wash it! Love him for that!!

Last night I realized I hadn't left my house since Sunday so I planned a night out with one of my good friends (Haley). We are going to Wal-Mart & to grab some supper and drinks. Nothing too exciting but I'm pumped to get out of my house and have some girl chat without kids:)

Pierce was complaining about his throat hurting last night during bath. We brush teeth after baths so Travis got the flash light out and checked his throat. Of course it was all red, swollen and had blisters on it. I immediately thought strep:( Normally Travis can take all the time off he needs but they are busy so I wasn't sure what to do. I told all my daycare families what was going on and they all decided to find somewhere else to go (understandable). I feel so guilty about putting all those families out for a whole day but I needed to get Pierce seen by the doctor before our weekend away. So today Pierce came first and we are spending the whole day together:)

Ahhhhh...the little things really do matter!!

Lists

Let the lists begin....

We are going out of town for the weekend for a family Christmas. Yes, in March!! My mom's family all moved away from Williamsburg so we no compromise and meet half way between everyone... Clear Lake, IA! We rent a house and share meal duty!

Anytime we go away I start a list early in the week so I remember everything! Well, my lists started yesterday! My sister and I are in charge of breakfast on Sunday so I have a grocery list, a list for all the boys stuff, a list for my spray tanning stuff (my family is interested in getting spray tanned so I'm taking it all with me!), a list for Travis and myself and a list for everything else! At this rate we better rent a 15 passenger van from Capper's!!

I stress about all these little things but I know we are going to have the best weekend with family! I truly can't wait!!

Weekend Fun

We had another great weekend! Friday I did a few spray tans and had friends over for some adult beverages! Saturday morning was a whole lot of laying around and doing nothing! Travis and Pierce did a lot of work outside and Cash and I watched TV inside;) Saturday night we had a couples shower for my cousin and her fiance! It was "Green Acres" theme and was fun! I took off early and went to one of my friends 30th birthday parties! Good times, good times! Sunday was spent with the people I love most in this world....my boys! We went to church, out for breakfast at Ox Yoke, to the park to play, mowing the yard, water table fun, naps (everyone!), then out to the garden to plant corn, carrots and onions! Pierce & Cash had fun riding the jeep and playing on grandpa's lawn mower! I love me a good family day! Sometimes when things get crazy they are the people that ground you the most! LOVE IT!

Happy Monday!

Hand-Me-Downs

I mentioned Cash wearing hand-me-downs in an earlier post but I failed to mention Pierce also wears hand-me-downs from his cousin Carter! Ever since he was a baby my SIL (LynDee) would deliver huge bags of clothes for Pierce! It.Is.Awesome!

Over the past week I've been trying to go through all the boys clothes...getting out what doesn't fit and adding what does fit. I'm thinking I'm going to participate in Burg city wide garage sales on May 4th & 5th and selling all the boys stuff! So I'm trying to weed out all Carter's clothes!

Like I said in Friday's blog I've had a lot of extra time in the mornings so I've been doing one drawer at a time this week. I finally finished and I'm amazed at all the clothes are actually Carter's...compared to Pierce's!

I couldn't believe all the piles on my counter so I counted all of Carter's items! Here's the break-down: jeans/pants: 13, long sleeve shirts: 14, shorts: 7, T-shirts: 18 & PJ's: 10! Keep in mind this is all the clothes he wears now and this has all been in his drawers along w/ his clothes! Somebody please tell me what 3 year old needs 20 pairs of pants?!

So I want to take this time to thank my sister-in-law, LynDee, for her shopping habits and keeping her kids (and now mine) so stylish;) THANK YOU!!!

Productive

I feel so productive today and it's only 7:30! I have 2 school-age girls coming in the mornings now so I have to get up earlier then normal (6am). Today I decided I'd get some things started before all the other kids show up.

I was out last night for a friends 30th birthday supper so the boys had a babysitter (Travis was also out!). I hate having sitters give the boys a bath so I did it this morning. They were up at 6:30 so I threw them in the tub! They LOVE baths so it was a great way for them to start their day!

Pierce has been having issues peeing on the bathroom floor. Every time I announce it's clean up time he says he has to go potty. I know he's just playing me but I've told him he can go potty when everything is cleaned up....and pees on the floor! I hate making him wait (I'd rather clean pee off my tiled bathroom floor then my living room carpet!). So lately he thinks it's funny to pee on bathroom floor (b/c it delays him having to clean up). I hate putting him in time-out for having an accident but I did yesterday b/c he was laughing thinking he was pretty funny! Ummm...NO you're not! Anyway....back to my point! Every time he had an accident I would just throw the clothes & towels in the washer. I never started it...just them sit there! So this morning I figure we had 4 days of pee clothes in there so I started it. Feels good to have laundry going so early on a Friday! I don't usually do laundry during daycare hours. And by the way...Travis had a talk with Pierce this morning so I'm hoping we don't have any accidents today!

I started the dishwasher through the night so I've already unloaded that and put it all away! I love having an empty dishwasher all day! It's the little things;) I also dusted the kitchen and living room areas (something that hasn't happened in a while!).

And now I'm soaking my Norwex cloths in the sink! I'm a big fan of Norwex (have been for a while) and it's funny how it's all catching on right now! http://www.norwex.com/ My mother-in-law (Donna Heitman) sells it so if you're interested look her up!! I'm planning on doing a before/after Norwex picture so stay tuned!

TGIF:)

Golf

I played my first round of golf last night! 1st hole: R-O-U-G-H, 2nd hole: okay, 3rd hole: finally got a hold of the ball, 4th hole...DONE! My partner and I decided we'd rather go grab a bite to eat! Plus, the bugs were HORRIBLE!! They were dodging my face left and right. I think I actually swallowed a few! It's going to be a long summer if the bugs are already that bad! No.Thank.You! If anyone has a miracle bug spray let me know! Everything I've ever used hasn't worked.
Happy Thirsty Thursday All!!

Kohls

While checking my usual blogs early this morning I found these on Lauren Conrad's blog! They are her shoes and they are at Kohl's for $24.97! I couldn't resist so I ordered them.....

While on their site I noticed they have free shipping through today! I really couldn't resist that so I also picked up some nicer clothes for the boys (I'll call them "church" clothes)! Each one of them got 3 new outfits that I'm pretty pumped about!

By the way...if anyone is looking for cheap "daycare" clothes I got Pierce 4 pairs of mesh shorts at Wal-Mart for $2.88 a pair! Couldn't really beat that!! I kind of like knowing he can do whatever he wants to them because they were only $2.88!!!

Cash's clothes were cheaper yet because he's in hand-me-downs from Pierce! It's kind of nice going to the storage room, opening up one tote and finding 15 pairs of shorts and who knows how many tops that fit him! LOVE it!

Happy Hump Day!!!

St. Patrick's Day

Since the weather was amazing and it was on a Saturday we decided to make it a family day at the Cedar Rapids St. Patrick's Day parade (a million other people had the same thought!)

Stopped and had a picnic lunch on the way!

It was HOT but Cash found enough shade to enjoy his banana muffin!

Little Miss Kadence (my niece) and her adorable ensemble!

Trying to get a good picture of them was tough! They were hot and ready to be done!

Here's a big group shot! All the kids did great!

Thanks goodness for the little breeze! This picture cracks me up w/ all their hair blowing in the wind!

Our attempt at a family photo! Oh Pierce!

Enjoying the shade and some beverages after the parade!
The day was fun but exhausting! There was just too many people there! We had adults fighting the kids for the candy they were throwing out! A little ridiculous! Not sure the kids will make an appearance next year...might just be an adult thing;)

And lastly, I attended my very first vendor event. I got a few girls signed up for the prom special and had many others take my information and some even booked an appointment! I was pleased with how things went!

Have a great week everyone!

Holy Hotness

That's right...I busted out the shorts! For the boys that is...my legs are not ready to see daylight;)

This weather has been crazy! It's been close to 80 degrees a few days this week! I've been tempted to turn the AC on but decided my husband would kill me! It gets pretty stuff in here but we've made it through! I can't believe I'm talking about this on March 16th!!!!

The kids LOVE playing outside and they've gotten a lot of chances to do that this week! If we haven't gone outside by noon I've heard "go outside Kim?" a million times! I just hope it lasts and we don't get hammered with another snow storm!

TGIF!! (I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!)

I'll be giving away 2 FREE SPRAY TANS and a lot of coupons! I will also be selling t-shirts (thanks to Elite Sports)! I'll have $5 off coupons all over the table (first come, first grab!). I would LOVE to bring my booth and do spray tans there but St. Mary's staff quickly turned me down:( You'll have to trust me that it works and view some before/after pictures (see below!).

For those of you reading this and are in high school or know someone that goes to high school you should definitely come and grab a $5 off coupon! Bring the coupon with you and you'll get the same great tan for $10 ($20 value!). Sounds like a great deal to me!

Farm Boys

The boys love going to my Grandma Spratt's farm to run around and see all there is to see! Pierce especially loves to see his great uncle, Pap (Pat) but unfortunately he was busy and we didn't get to see him!

Cash was not steady in his boots so he kept falling! He had a great time anyway:)

Love these coats they got as a gift! My little lumberjacks!

For some reason they loved running and playing in all this corn....don't tell uncle Pap;)

This was all the further Pierce went up on the pile of corn...a bit of a chicken!

LOVE this picture of Travis & Pierce

Had chocolate chip cookies on the way home...he devoured it then took a snooze!

I could stay there ALL day! They almost had to drag me out:) Bring on the the warm weather because I dug out the flip-flops!!

Weekend Recap

Weekend started off with 7 spray tans Friday night, Travis made cod for dinner, had a babysitter come after boys went to bed & we went to watch a band & have a few adult beverages (it was one of those weeks!), Saturday we took a family trip to my Grandma Spratt's farm to see cows, the boys LOVED running around in the beautiful weather, Santa brought a huge trampoline to my parents house & it's finally assembled so we stopped quick to let the boys have a quick jump...okay so Travis and I also tried it (separately!)...Travis has already mastered a flip...I'm too much of a chicken, I took off with a friend and we went out for lunch and shopping for 5 hours, IT.WAS.AWESOME, we grilled out Saturday night and went to bed early, Sunday morning consisted of church, breakfast at my parents, more jumping on the trampoline, boys took a nap and I went to my cousin, Allison's, bridal shower, did some more playing outside, Travis cleaned the kitchen, dining room, living room and he's on his 3rd load of laundry (I man-handled the boys...Cash follows the vacuum around like he can ride it...Pierce runs from it!!), we ordered Pizza Haus for supper (YUM), and now we're watching Tangled as a family, & Travis is still doing laundry;)

Happy Monday All!

Freaky!

I saw some people posting pictures on Facebook of their brooms standing straight up. I had no idea what was going on and wondered how they made them do that! Apparently it has something to do w/ the equinox and gravitational pull (I honestly have no idea...this is Facebook info!!). So I decided I wanted to try it! It was successful! Although it freaked the crap out of me! It's just not normal and shouldn't happen! Just thought I'd share!

PS: Don't mind the naked baby in the background! Bath night...done by Travis!!

TGIF!! It's been a long week and I'm glad it's ending!! I think I'm taking a mental health day tomorrow....ALONE!! :)

Husbands

It's official....I need mine! He had to go out of town for work Monday-Wednesday and I never realized how much he does (don't tell him that though!).
Bath night for the boys has always been a team effort here. One of us washes then one of us dries them off and gets their PJ's on. It's a little different by myself! I can do it, don't get me wrong, it's just that I don't normally have to!
Travis is also in charge of all the garbage & recyclables...getting it all ready then taking it to the curb (something he just does...I don't make him!). Our garbage truck comes somewhat early (7:30am) and I had it out there with minutes to spare;) Travis refuses to put the garbage out the night before because if a dog gets into your garbage or the wind blows it all over you're responsible to pick it up (I don't think everyone follows that rule!).
As you've all read before Cash isn't the best sleeper. During the night I bet he wakes up 2-3 times which results in one of us going in there reaching our hands under the crib to find that damn pacifier then putting it in his mouth. As soon as he has the paci he's good! Well, during the night we usually take turns but when Travis isn't here it's up to me, and me only! I'm a little more tired then usual but I had things under control!
Travis is also the chef of the house! I normally don't cook because he does it all. Don't judge me but Monday night the boys had popcorn chicken from Casey's!! They loved it! I had a 100 calorie mini pack of popcorn! Fine by me! We had frozen pizza on Tuesday and McDonald's Wednesday! I had volleyball so the boys went to my brother & sister-in-laws! It's the least I could do;)
I love my boys to death and would do anything for them but sometimes daddy-only time is just what we all need! I get a little break and so do the boys! I'm really missing that this week!!! Once again..love them to death...I'm just being honest!
The most important thing Travis does that I missed the most was making us feel safe!! I'm the biggest scardy cat and can freak myself out hearing the furnace kick in! I just feel safe with him here! I know the boys and I are fine but we just feel complete when he's home!
So welcome home Travis and maybe I'll be a little easier on you now;)

Snow!

On Sunday we got a really pretty snow so we decided to take the boys outside.

My baby's first time in the snow! Just seeing him in snow pants cracks me up!

He loved it!

Both my handsome boys together! Pierce has always loved being outside and I think his little brother is taking after him!

Cash looks scared to death but he's really not! They just don't appreciate me pulling them away from the snow to take a picture in front of our "Heitman" rock;)

Last year Travis re-did an old sled from my Grandma Donohoe's barn. He actually got it out and took the boys for a ride on Sunday! They LOVED it!

Such a good daddy!!

Although the snow was beautiful it didn't last long! It got close to 70 degrees two days later and the boys were playing outside in sweatshirts!

Gotta love Iowa weather!

Spray Tanning Process

I obviously love spray tans and I have for the last 5 years! When I started my very own spray tanning business I was shocked at how little people actually knew about it! I get a lot of questions about the process so I'd like to take a moment and share!
Making Your Appointment:

-When I talk to clients on the phone I tell people to wear whatever they are comfortable in during the spray tan. I've had it all from completely naked, to underwear and bra, old swim suits and I've had ladies in mesh shorts and a tank-top!

-I also tell people to wear dark, loose fitting clothes after the tan. The solution will get on your clothes but it all comes out! I spilled a container of solution down a white tank-top and I figured it was ruined so I just threw it in the dirty clothes. I washed it 3 days later and it all came out! I still wear the tank-top!

At Your Appointment:

-I take clients to the spray tanning room.

-I tell them to get undressed however they're comfortable.

-I show them where the shower caps are (most wear them to protect their hair!).

-Then I leave the room and tell them to stand on the black towel and to yell at me when they're ready.

-When I come back in I apply lotion to the insides of their hands and the bottoms of their feet (they actually do it). This works as a barrier...wherever you have lotion will NOT get tan!

-I start the tanning machine and go to town! A thorough application takes me 5 minutes at the most!

After Your Tan:

-You stand in front of the fans for a few minutes.

-I tell clients they will be sticky for a few hours but that will go away.

-You will get your max tan by 12 hours.

-You have to avoid water for these 12 hours!!! And avoid any sort of white clothing (wedding dresses, prom dresses...) until you shower at least once!

-Once you shower you're good to go. You can swim, get a mani & pedi, wear your wedding or prom dress:)

REPEAT AS OFTEN AS NEEDED!!

Pretty painless....right?! Come check it out for yourself!!

Weekend Recap

Had another great weekend! Here's how it all unfolded:
Started the weekend with 3 spray tans Friday night, then we supported TJ's fish fry (carry-out), up and at 'em bright and early Saturday, visiting Capper Ford for a possible new vehicle, more spray tans, got new kicks for Pierce at Factory Brand Shoes, met my sister and her family and my mom at Coral Ridge food court to eat, kids rode carousel then played in the germ-infested play area (gives me the heebie jeebies...but they had fun!!), naps all around, Saturday afternoon church, took the boys to Grandma & Grandpa Heitmans for an overnight stay (YAHOO), helped my cousin Ryan turn 30 with supper at Carlos then a big surprise party for him at TJ's in Parnell, what a fun group of friends we have!, the smartest man ever (my dad!) had a pizza made and ready for us when we returned to their house at 2am!, had the BEST night of sleep ever b/c I got to sleep past 6am!!, Sunday breakfast at my parents, watched college wrestling on Sunday afternoon(GO HAWKS), naps all around again!, and ended with the hubs making steak fajitas and lounging around!
Bring on another week!

DVR

I mentioned in my "things I love" post on Valentine's day that my DVR is one of them! I'm down for any kind of reality show and I tape my fair share! I have about 1-2 hours each afternoon when the daycare kids are napping that I watch my shows. I can't clean or do anything because I'd wake the kids up;) Here's a rundown of what shows I DVR now and watch:

Mob Wives, anything Kardashians!, Real Housewives of Atlanta, Ellen (everyday!), The Voice, Bethany Ever After (LOVE), Pawn Stars (w/ the hubs), American Pickers (w/ the hubs), Caged (MTV show about cage fighters!), Real Housewives of Orange County (my favorite of the housewives shows!), Jersey Couture, 16 & Pregnant, Teen Mom (both MTV), American Idol, Greys Anatomy, Swamp People (w/ the hubs), Jersey Shore (Teeeeee Shirt Timmmmmme!), The Mentalist (w/ the hubs) and Sweet Home Alabama (CMT's version of The Bachelor).

Yes I am very lame but I had to find something to do during nap time! Don't judge me;) There's usually shows I can't watch during the week so I watch them on Saturday mornings (when I can get the TV away from my 3 year old) or during nap time!

March!

I cannot believe it's March already! So many fun things happening this month!

-We have a couple family weddings this summer so all the fun showers start this month!

-4 of my really close friends turn 30 in March...hopefully that means lots of fun parties...hint hint:)

-We can't forget about St. Patrick's day! Love going to the parade in Cedar Rapids. This year could be very interesting with it being on a Saturday! I'm thinking we'll leave the kids at home this year and make it an adult St. Patrick's Day!!

-I'm doing my very first vendor event for SprayChick! I'm having having fun getting things organized and ready for that!

-And most importantly my baby turns 15 months TODAY!! I love you with all my heart Cash and cannot imagine life without you in it!!
