My Moms BIG Day!

It's finally here and finally out in the open!!!
My mom is FINALLY retiring.....TODAY!!

She has worked for the FSA (Farm Service Agency) in Iowa county for 28 years!
She was set to retire in 2 years but this early retirement came up now and she met every requirement to do it!
I don't think she even thought twice:)

We couldn't be more proud and happy for her!!

She has a lot of sad farmers...some of which have been sending her flowers and chocolates this week and some have called to wish her all the best through tears!

She does a lot at work and I think some of her coworkers will realize this when she's gone!

We are having a party for her tomorrow night at their house!
She doesn't have any set plans for future employment...
...but considering she's only 54 years young I can see her doing something!
She's a bit obsessed with Kohl's (sorry mom!) so I personally think she should get a job there!
Until she makes a decision about working again I see her spending a lot of her time with grandkids and helping out when and where she can!
Especially with the new little baby arriving around New Years!

On top of this already being a big day.....
....It's also my parents 36th wedding anniversary TODAY!
Happy Anniversary to the two people I look up to the most!!

Such a big day and we couldn't be more excited!!
CONGRATS mom...and cheers to the frick'n weekend...every day!!!

Fire Trucks!

We started the weekend off right with Friday night cards and drinks with friends!

****************************************

Our crazy-busy Saturday started off with a picnic at West End Park with Travis' classmates and families.
{I didn't snap one picture!}
After naps (for Cash and me!) we led all the bikers in from Parnell in a fire truck!
The boys were a little more hesitant this year!
There was a big group again this year!
Selfie in the front seat....triple chins and all!

Saturday night was Travis' adults only class reunion!
It was a great night!

****************************************

Sunday was a slow, lazy day!
My parents had the boys overnight Saturday so Travis and I slept in!!
We even made it to church...go us!

While Cash and I napped (again) Travis took Pierce to my parents to work on gardening, canning and making juice!

Happy Monday to all of you!
Go out and make it a good week!

Street Dance

Saturday is the local fire departments street dance!
This is a big fundraiser for them so if you're in the Williamsburg area come out and enjoy a night with great food, cold beer and awesome music!

We have a very busy Saturday!
It's Travis' 15 year class reunion
{Guys golfing in morning, family picnic then supper and street dance!}
There's a mock school shooting drill at our high school Saturday that will bring in a lot of police officers, fire departments and EMTs.
{I'm glad they are getting trained for this horrific event...I just think it's so sad that this is now part of their training...}
We get to lead the poker run bikers back from Parnell in the fire truck again!
Last years fire truck ride here!
The boys are staying over night with G'ma & G'pa Spratt so this mama will be sleeping in on Sunday!  YAY!!

TGIF to all of you!
See you at the street dance!

Clean-Up

I'm not sure why but I've been getting an itch to get things organized and cleaned up!
I think it's because I'm in my house all day and I see things that bother me!

The first of these things was our pantry!
It was so unorganized and messy I would open the door and not even know what we had to give the kids for snack!  Things were thrown all over and super unorganized!
It was so bad I didn't even want to take a before pic!
BUT....here's the after picture!
So.Much.Better.

****************************************

Another thing that drove me nuts in our house was our laundry room!
We do not have any organization for our shoes and they were thrown in a huge pile!
All daycare families come through the garage so everyone saw our mess...everyday:(
Once again I didn't take a before picture but here's the after.....
I went to Dollar General and bought everyone their own basket.
I separated all the shoes and put them in each of our baskets.
We are a week in and so far so good!
{I'm actually the only one who's left my shoes out!}

I'm definitely not done with the laundry room!
The floors are looking better but our up above shelving is pretty sad!
I can organize and situate things as best I can but it still looks messy!
Yuck!!

Here's what I'm thinking.....
....gray paint on the walls and yellow and white chevron curtains across the top shelves (to hide my junk!) and around the utility sink!
I need help with all this because they don't sell what I'm looking for!
I need to find someone who can sew;)

How do you keep clutter out of your laundry room?!
Anyone have any suggestions for me?!
Anyone up for hire for this job?! :)

Here's what I want for my garage to reduce clutter in the laundry room....
We have the perfect space for it and it looks somewhat do-able!
I guess this will be a work in progress!

****************************************

And finally...I needed to clean-up my hair!
 I WENT SHORT!!!!
I love it!!!
I can even do it myself!
All I had to do was blow dry it and it was done!!!

There are a lot of women who fear the short hair cuts...not me!
I love change and to me shorter hair is easier!
Plus I had been getting pretty lazy with my longer hair.
This cut and style makes me do my hair everyday!

Happy Hump Day!
A friend introduced me to this video and I cannot get enough!

Reminds me of myself on Wednesdays for golf:)

A Little of This & A Little of That

A little catch up here!

So last Thursday the boys and I went to watch slow-pitch.
The boys got dirty so when we got home (late!) I started the tub and left the bathroom to pick up clothes and get PJ's ready!
Cash wasted no time in getting naked and hopping in.
Pierce started yelling "I'm not getting in there...Cash pooped!"
I quickly returned to the bathroom and found Cash swimming around in this.....
No, he did not poop....this is our city water!
A water main broke earlier that day so our water was rusty!
Wonderful :(
Pierce wouldn't get in (don't blame him) and I got Cash out!
We took a cleaner bath the next day!

Blue eyes!
Saturday morning we had our neices Taylor and Brynnleigh.
LynDee came over for a spray tan so all the kids had fun hanging out!

Saturday afternoon we were invited out to Travis' parents for a pool party/family reunion!
Everyone had a great time!

My father-in-law bought a go-cart for the grandkids but as you all know I'm not comfortable with any of it!
Pierce had an opportunity to ride along with his cousin Kaylynn and quickly declined.
He mustered up enough courage (or shut my voice off in his head!) and finally got on.
She didn't get very far and he was begging to be done and to go back!
{That's my boy!}
Cute pictures anyway:)

Tis the season for gardening/canning!
Travis spent most of the weekend doing all this fun stuff!

We have a lot of zucchini so I've been looking for recipes.
I found this recipe for oven baked zucchini chips.
We tried them Sunday night and they were good!

Sunday after church we were at my parents house and I found Cash quietly in the corner having a conversation with these two angels!
So precious!!

We were invited to my in-laws again Sunday for lunch and to swim.
We decided not to go because we were also invited to the firemen swim party at our local pool Sunday night.
We thought three big pool parties would be a little much for the boys!
Well...the weather got a little crappy and for some reason the local pool was closed so the firemen party was canceled:(
The boys were pretty bummed to say the least!
I felt bad because they could have swam at G'ma and G'pa Heitman's pool earlier in the day!

****************************************

Calm week here and I'm kinda liking it!

We are going to the high school boys baseball game tonight.
I get my hair cut tomorrow night...it's been a while and I'm excited!!
Golf Wednesday night.
Slowpitch and spray tans Thursday night.

Have a great week everyone!

Farm Life

When the Spratt Farm makes hay it's all hands on deck!
Travis was (weirdly) excited to go help over the weekend!

The boys and I met up with them towards the end of the day.

Once again...Pierce is dreaming here....
As most of you have read in past posts I am not a fan of of 4-wheelers or anything like it!
Travis did end up taking both boys for a ride on the 4-wheeler but I didn't get a picture!
I was a nervous wreck and my own grandma was telling me to chill out...I did not ;)

For some reason this is a hot spot for all the kids who visit the farm!
I think it's a great photo-opp!

****************************************
On to the hay.....

I didn't get any pictures of the guys actually making the hay...just the storage part!
Here's Travis getting all the over thrown bales...(*cough LUKE cough*).
That is my dad and his brother Tom way up there....
All these Spratt men bust their a$$es helping on the farm!
My cousin Nick & Luke also busting thier butts helping!!

I know it's just making hay but it's a really neat sight to see so many come together to help out!
My boys LOVE the farm and we'll take any and all opportunities to visit:)
Pierce actually got in on the fun and rode the tractor that hauled the hay to the barn.
He.Was.In.Heaven.

Happy Wednesday to all of you!
It's my first full week back to work and it's been a long two days!

Today will (hopefully) be a breeze because tonight is ladies golf night!!
Cheers to Wednesday:)

4th Of July

I got lost in the vacation pictures and totally forgot to post about the 4th of July!!

We had a great day!
The weather was beautiful and things continue to get easier when your kids are a little older:)
We met up with some friends for the parade at Travis' brothers house!
Jace & Cash
Not a fan of the sirens!
My niece, Kadence, wasn't a fan of the noise either!!
Pierce lasted about 2 minutes watching then he jumped on a bike and road it up and down the sidewalks for the rest of the parade!
He finally learned how to ride without training wheels so he was pretty pumped!
Cash expected them to throw candy right in to the bowl but it didn't work like that!
G'ma Heitman....aka baby whisperer:)
Only on the 4th can you get away with driving your golf cart EVERYWHERE!!
Family selfie on the cart:)
Sending dad off to set up fireworks!
The boys and I drove the golf cart down to watch Travis and the other firemen set up for fireworks and let a few off.
"Big Joe" decided he would let one off when we were down there and it scared Cash to death...
...he actually yelled "HOLY SHIT!" and then cried because he wanted to leave!
We left shortly after....but I have to say it was fun seeing these guys doing all this stuff.
I usually just hear about it...and don't actually get to see it!
**SPARKLERS**
And finally the fireworks started...
...someone wasn't a fan!!

I hope you all had a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!
We enjoyed our time with close friends and family!
Just the way we like it!!
