The Garden Is Finishing Up!

We had a night in the garden this week!
It's pretty much done (after the frost) so Travis wanted to get any all produce out!
I'm talking like I have clue...don't be fooled...I do NOT have a clue about gardening;)

The boys drove the Jeep to the garden!
Do you suppose this is why Travis' back has been hurting all summer?!
 Done, done & done!
Travis teaching Cash how to pick!
I wasn't too thrilled Cash was touching jalapenos but he loved it!
He was so excited to help!
Our other son was throwing a fit in the background because the Jeep's battery died!
I refrained from taking a picture of that;)
My dad planted pumpkins and there are some big ones!
The frost got them also so we went and picked some!

I'm just guessing here but I think they call these ornamental peppers!
I think they are pretty neat!
It's the only color left in the garden!
My dad also planted gourds.  They all turned out great!
 Final product!!
Looks pretty good for being home-grown!

*********

Hope you all have a great Thursday!
I'm going out to eat and to get pedicures with my mom, my sister and sister-in-law tonight!
I'm excited for a family girls night out!

Another Year....

I celebrated another year of life yesterday (September 25th).
Last year was a big one so this year didn't seem so important....31!  It really felt like another day!

Although it felt like another day I made the most of it!
It turned out to be a great day!

I woke up to a really sweet card from the hubs!

I made chocolate cake for myself:)
There aren't any eggs in this recipe so Cash got to lick the beater....

My friend Heather stopped at 9:30am with cookies and a diet Pepsi (she knows me too well!!).
It was perfect timing because it was snack time for the kids and my time of the day for a diet Pepsi!
I shared the cookies as a snack and the remainder are sitting my counter (next to the cake) screaming my name!!

I had my house cleaned...by someone else!
I trade services and do spray tans for my house to get cleaned...HOLLA!!

My sister brought me Pizza Haus for lunch....after she called to tell me she has so much vacation to take and decided to take today off!  After I got over being jealous I was glad she was kind enough to drive from North Liberty to bring me my favorite lunch!
[I would have loved to take the day off for my birthday!]

I got all caught up on the real housewives while the kids napped!
All I have to say is Teresa is a nut job....and so is Aviva!!

My friend Stacy brought me cupcakes after nap with thee perfect card!
She was upset I made myself a cake;)

I got a half hour with my family then I was off to Sigourney to spray tan 20 women!

I had well over 100 facebook birthday messages!

Thanks to everyone who made my 31st birthday such a great one!!

F...R...I...D...A...Y

I think I can...I think I can...I think I can...

Man oh man has it been a loooong week!  Nothing in particular (runny noses {times 5}, my own kids talking back and being naughty....you know the usual!).
BUT...today is Friday and that makes everything better!

We didn't really have an eventful week but I managed to snap a few pics!
Here's Cash in undies!  He really loves them and it's hilarious to watch him walk/run around in them!
The boys got wild one night and were running up and down the hallway (seems to be a regular thing around here).
My parents nicknamed Cash "Toughy" and there's as good reason!
Pierce had a field trip this week and all he cared about was the bus ride!
He's been playing "bus driver" all week!  In this particular picture his outfit includes 3D glasses!
The rest of the outfit is what we see everyday!  Gotta love cowboy boots with shorts;)
Yep...there's Cash eating out of the garbage!  We had cheesy crackers for snack and someone threw theirs away.  Cash couldn't believe someone would waste perfectly delicious crackers!
I let him eat them only because they were freshly thrown away and they didn't touch anything nasty!
On the road again...... I've started traveling more and more with SprayChick!  I say...Bring.It.On:)

I have to share this story.... My boys do NOT sleep in and are up at 6:15 everyday.  I always have to rush through my showers (which I hate!) because I know they're up to no good.
On Thursday morning I walked out to the living room and saw them snuggled on the couch under a blanket...watching Curious George...eating frozen waffles!
I was upset at first...then I realized breakfast was taken care of and I didn't have to do anything! Nice!
Pierce said..."I actually like them better frozen!"  I say...what-evs!

Any tips on getting your kids to sleep longer would be greatly appreciated!!

Have a great weekend everyone!  I know I plan to:)

I LOVE FALL!

I love fall for so many reasons.
Football, cooler weather and cleaning out clothes come to mind first:)

I have always, always loved football!  I get so excited for our hometown football games on Friday nights.
I'm like a kid on Christmas morning when I get to go to an Iowa football game!  And I get just as excited when I get to watch them on TV!
I actually look forward to Sundays because we lay around and watch football....ALL DAY!!
I made chili and corn bread for supper last night and it was nice to sit inside on a cool night, eat a great supper and watch Monday Night Football!  Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling:)
**I made corn bread from Tastefully Simple's beer bread mix. I left the beer out and added 1/3 cup oil and a can of creamed corn and it was awesome!**

My birthday also comes in the fall....although getting older doesn't make birthdays much fun anymore!
Although this year will be different..... Travis worked long, long hours for 10 years and was always harvesting on my birthday (and planting on mothers day...I got screwed!).
He got a new job last October and now he's home everyday at 4pm:)
He won't have any excuse not to get me [at least] a card this year!!
Although I'm sure he'll find one!

My SIL dropped off another round of hand-me-downs (which we LOVE here!) so I made it a point to go through all Pierce's clothes and store the clothes that don't fit him!  I hate doing that but it feels so good once it's done!
He's set for the winter.....thanks LynDee!!

Our Raider party went good last Friday night!  Lots of kids running around but I don't mind....because their parents are here to watch them;)  I'm not in charge!!
And the raiders won!!

My friend Haley & I had a great time at the Iowa game Saturday!  There's no such thing as too much fun but I'm pretty sure we were close;)

Here's all the girls of the group!
Haley & I in our seats!
We had a long walk so we caught a ride with this guy....um hello...free will donation:)  It took us 5 minutes on this rig and it would have taken us 20 minutes to walk!  No brainer to me!

Sunday was packed full of family time....which everyone loves!

Happy Tuesday all!
Be kind to one another!

Insta-Friday

The week kind of got away from me so I'm recapping our whole week today:)

We celebrated my Grandma Spratt's 83rd birthday on Sunday (her birthday is on 9-11).
Here's all the grandkids and great grandkids that were there (definitely not all of them!).
I LOVE spending time with family and Sunday was a gorgeous day all around!

Pierce & Luke doing sack races!
My aunts are PE teachers and they always bring fun things for kids to do!  It's so nice when someone else keeps your kids busy;)

I had a Thirty-One and Jamberry nail party Monday.

I had a great turn out and I think everyone had a good time!
I got these as a hostess gift and I had to try them out....

I figured leopard on all my fingers was a bit much so I decided to go with black on 8 fingers!

Cash checking out the JT....glad someone does in this household!
My dad entered all his grandkids in for a drawing at the Iowa county tractor pull and Cash won $25 to Phat Daddy's.  My dad didn't tell any of us he did this so I had a lot of texts and calls congratulating Cash on his win!  I had to do some investigating but I figured it out!
My dad now says Cash is his lucky charm...couldn't have anything to do with his name;)

With the cooler weather I decided to make my mom's famous pumpkin cookies!
Cookies: 3...Kim's will power: 0
Ah man;(

Watching the Raider homecoming parade Thursday night.  The boys enjoyed everything from the marching bands to the fire trucks!
We came home and watched the Packers beat the Bears!!  GO PACK GO

Supporting our Raiders today!!
I love love love his new sneakers but he's not sold yet! This morning I won;)

We had family pictures taken and I'm so happy with the outcome!
We had Better Together Photo & Design come to my grandma's farm!  You can find them here!

They did an awesome job and I cannot wait to see the rest of the photos!
Pierce has been a little sh*t at EVERY photo shoot.  I'm not sure if he's growing out of that or if the photographers were that good but he did great!
They posted 6 sneak peaks a few hours after they took them!

******************
We are hosting almost 50 of our closest friends and family tonight for Raider Homecoming!
GO RAIDERS!!

I got tickets with a friend for the Iowa/UNI game tomorrow!  I'm so excited to have a full day of all adults!!!
GO HAWKS!!

Most Embarrassing Moment....EVER!

I had the most embarrassing moment EVER while tailgating Saturday.
Here's how it all went down....I was waiting in line for the porta-potty and had to go really bad.  Once it was my turn I wasted no time getting in there and going!
I set my "beverage" on the toilet paper dispenser, pulled my pants down and was hovering over the disgusting toilet!
I heard something drop and quickly realized it was my full "beverage" upside down in my pants...spilling EVERYWHERE!!

I honestly did not want to come out of the bathroom but knew I had no other choice!  I explained to the ladies in the line what happened and the all threw their hands over their mouths and gasped...and then laughed at me!

Here's what it looked like 30 minutes after it happened....at this point it had time to dry!

I normally would NEVER post a picture of my a$$ but my friend was oh so kind to take this (without me knowing!) so I figured I'd share just to give you all a good laugh!

I was mortified...

Everyone at our tailgate got a good laugh...but they knew what happened and they know me!
The group behind us were all pointing at me and laughing.  I'm not joking...I had tears in my eyes:(  They thought I was hammered and peed my pants!

I figured at that point there was nothing I could do.  I was stupid enough to put my "beverage" there I needed to pay the consequence!
Luckily it dried up rather quickly and I just went about the rest of my day like nothing happened!

I just couldn't get over how rude some people are!  The sad thing was they had kids at their tailgate and they were pointing and laughing at me....great lesson to teach your kids people!

Anyway, we had a great day and the weather was beautiful!  The hawks lost (BOO) but we managed to have a fun day!
Take it from me people....next time you enter a porta-potty leave your beverage at your tailgate!!

Happy Monday!

Baby #3?!

No...I'm not pregnant....that I know of;)
As you all know we have 2 boys so Travis and I have been throwing around the idea of trying for a third...HOPEFULLY A GIRL!  If we were guaranteed a girl I'd be pregnant 6 months ago!

Anyway...my family knows we're "thinking" about things and I got this email from my mom yesterday...I had to share:

"A lady was telling in here this morning what an old farmer told her years ago about fillys and studs. If you want a filly put the horse’s head towards the sun and if you want a stud, put the horses head towards the north. He said it also works with babies. I had never heard that before. Might be good information if you want to try for a girl in the future."

I'm not sure why but I busted out laughing at this email!
Here's what I wrote back:

"Ha ha...I thought this was a joke;)  Turns out I'm no farm girl and don't know what a filly or a stud is (girl/boy?!)  Both boys were conceived w/ our bed facing north...TMI?!  I'm assuming a stud is a boy so I'll be facing the sun next time;)
PS: can I blog about this email?!  It cracks me up!"

She obviously gave me the go ahead to share!
So, if any of you are wondering how to conceive a girl or boy here ya go;)

TGIF!
I'm attempting to play in my first ever glow-in-the-dark golf tournament tonight.

Can't wait to tailgate and watch the Iowa/ISU game somewhere tomorrow!
We have Dish Network and they are going to lose Big Ten Network (which is the channel the game is on) so we have to find somewhere else to watch it!

Here's what I have to say to that:
Dear Dish Network,
If you don't get your sh*t together and keep the BTN I will leave you for DirectTV!
Sincerely, a true Iowa fan!

Great Supper...Lingering Smell

I got a recipe from a good friend and I happened to have all the ingredients (which never happens!) so I decided to make it!

SHREDDED SALSA CHICKEN:
4 frozen chicken breast
1 jar of salsa (I used our homemade salsa!)
1 packet of taco seasoning

Put chicken in crock-pot.  Pour taco seasoning over chicken.  Add salsa.  Cook on low 8 hours.
Pull chicken out and shred it.  Put it back in crock pot and mix with salsa juices.
Make into tacos, fajitas or whatever else sounds good (we did tacos).
AHHH-MAZING!

As good as this was....it also had a smell to it!
All the daycare families picking their kids up commented on how good it smelled.  I had been sitting in it all day so I couldn't smell it....
...until we went to Pierce's soccer game!  Sitting there cheering him on (or convincing him to go play!) I could smell it all over me!
It wasn't a horrible smell but not something I care to smell like!

Coming home after the game the smell of the house was overwhelming!  I'm not a big fan of smells...no bacon will ever be cooked in my house and I cook roasts in the garage if I'm home!

Luckily it was 62 degrees this morning when I got up so I opened up all the windows!
I'm hoping that takes care of it!

This was a great (easy) meal and I will be cooking it again...just in the garage;)

Happy Birthday to my nephew & Pierce's best friend Kahne!
They are only 3 weeks apart and are the bestest friends!
Hope you have a great day buddy:)

Tuesday Tuesday

It was a great 3 day weekend.  It was such a chillaxing weekend that I didn't take one picture...not one!

We had friends and family over Friday night for the Raider football game!

We went to my parents house Saturday morning because my sister and her kids were there.  They ran around and played while we just sat around!

Travis and I put the boys down late for a nap so we could watch the Iowa game just us
We made super nachos (amazing!) and watched the game.
It's probably a good thing the boys weren't around with the language flying out of Travis' mouth!!

Travis stayed in Saturday night and I went out with a great group of girls to celebrate Lea's birthday!
It was a great night and then a LOOOONG walk home;)

Sunday started off with breakfast/lunch at The Landmark.
Everyone took naps then we took off for Theisen's.
We had my niece and nephews birthday parties at the North Liberty pool then back to their house for supper and gift opening!
Not for Travis though...he had his annual NFL football fantasy draft he had to get back to!

Monday was a day full of nothing!  I tried to do laundry but that got as far as the dryer;)
Travis made a great supper....grilled ham steaks, pork chops, green bean casserole, okra & potato's!
We ended the night with a family movie night (LORAX) and popcorn!

Happy Tuesday to all of you!
Love me a short week;)
