Kroy Joseph Heitman

IT'S A BOY!!!

KROY JOSEPH HEITMAN!
He was born on June 22nd at 7:06pm.
He was 9 pounds 9 ounces and 21 inches long and a whole lot of perfect!

******************************

Rewind a bit...
This picture was taken the day before I delivered!
I had my induction date set for Thursday, June 23rd and we told a lot of our friends and family.
At my 39 week appointment on Tuesday, June 21st they mentioned me being induced on Wednesday, June 22nd and I went with it!
We did not tell anyone but our parents!

We were instructed to call Mercy Labor and Delivery at 6am to see if there was a bed available!
We did and there was a bed so we were to be there at 7:30.

The boys were already at my parents so it was just us here!
We got up, got ready and grabbed McDonald's breakfast.

As we were driving down I-80 we didn't even get 3 miles and Mercy called and said they had someone walk-in in labor and there wasn't room for me...
...talk about a HUGE bummer!

We headed to Iowa City anyway to be in the area for when we got the call!
We went to my sisters in North Liberty.

We weren't even there 10 minutes and my doctor called and said to get to the hospital ASAP!
YEEHAW!!

******************************

It was SO hard keeping this to myself!!
At one point my bestie Stacy called and I didn't know what to do!
So I sent her this picture...
...with this text: "Sorry friend, I can't talk.... I'm busy!"
Cats out of the bag!!

It was a loooong day!

Travis watched a couple movies and I watched HGTV and took a few naps!
All that made possible by the epidural...my only birth plan!

I was in labor for 11 hours and pushed for 10 minutes and he was here!!
For everyone wondering... I was not shocked when she said it was a boy!
Everything pointed in the male direction!!
He came out and didn't even cry!
He was so chill I actually thought something was wrong!
He didn't cry until they gave him a bath and as soon as that was over he was chill again!

While dad watched Kroy mom took a selfie of course!

He was awake and just taking it all in!

We called my parents first because they had the boys!
Turns out they were up on the town square for a car show and getting supper!
(For anyone from a small town you know this usually brings out a big group!)

They were at the Pizza Haus when we called so they quickly exited and walked outside.
I guess Cash was so excited he was jumping up and down screaming "IT'S A BOY!! IT'S A BOY!!"

And our town is so small, through the speaker phone, I could hear my SIL LynDee run up and ask gender and name!
Gotta love a small town and big family:)
So cool for the boys to share this information with everyone!

Needless to say we had many texts from friends and family saying they saw the boys on the square and congratulations!

******************************

My parents brought the boys up the next day to meet Kroy.

 First viewing!

My 3 boys!

First family of 5 photo!

They were so excited!

I absolutely LOVE this picture!!

Kroy is a perfect mix between Pierce and Cash!
******************************

Our friends and family couldn't wait to meet Kroy!
Haley!

 Grandma and Grandpa Heitman

 Jake, Amy, Delaney and Leo

Austin, Melanie, Taylor and Brynnleigh

 Kellie, Kahne and Kadence

******************************

Ready to go home!!!
We have loved every experience with Mercy of Iowa City!

******************************

We have had a few friends visit since we've been home!
 The Horvath's loved baby Kroy!

So did the Spratt girls!

Kroy got a lot of snuggles from the Nielsen girlies!!

We saw my Grandma Spratt on Sunday at my parents house!
Kroy is her 30th great grandchild!

Great Grandma Alice came for a visit too!

******************************
Life as we know it has changed!
I looked at Travis the other day and said "I can't believe we have 3 kids now!"

The boys are so in love with Kroy!
They fight over who gets to hold him and for how long!
Cash told me to start the timer the other day when Pierce got him before he did:)

This picture just melts my heart!

I haven't gotten too much done around the house because all I want to do is snuggle him:)
I figure this is FOR SURE our last baby so the house work can wait...and it will wait!

Here are the many faced of Kroy:)

******************************
I felt amazing the two days after delivering.
Then my milk came in...
...and four days later I am still suffering!

I decided I was not going to breast feed or pump at all.
{I'm having a lot of guilt with that decision but it's the best for my family at this time in our lives.}

I'm just waiting for some relief... and hoping it comes soon!

******************************

Thank you to everyone who has congratulated us, sent us a card, wrote us a message on social media, brought us dinner, given Kroy a present, given Pierce and Cash presents, came to visit us and a HUGE thanks to my parents for watching P & C while we were in the hospital!
We truly appreciate everything SO much!

******************************

Extra fun facts....

-For those that have wondered where got his name...
...it's from my boyfriend, Kroy Biermann, who plays football for the Atlanta Falcons;)
{The ONLY boy name Travis and I agreed on!}

-This is posting on June 28th...my due date!!

Almost A Family Of Five!

I cannot believe we are about to become a family of 5!
It is happening THIS WEEK!!!

I've been in full nesting mode and I can't stop!
I'm obsessed right now with the laundry...
...I cannot stand to see any dirty laundry in the baskets so I'm doing laundry daily!
I feel the best when it's all washed, dried and put away!

I have NEVER been like this with laundry!
It's driving my boys CrAzY!

We've been really busy with the same activities...swimming and baseball:)
With daycare numbers low this summer we've been at the pool a lot!
All the kids love it and it's nice for me too:)

I like it because it wears the kids out!
This was a Sunday evening at 7:30pm!

Travis took the boys to Lake Iowa Outdoor Adventure.
It was their first time attending and they all loved it!
Pierce loved shooting the guns and Cash loved being in the canoe!

I haven't been to a lot of Pierce's games because Cash plays at the same time:(
When I do get a chance to watch I am amazed how far he's come!
Pierce has tried many sporting activities and it's been quite the journey of trial and error!
He truly enjoys baseball and it makes my heart so happy to see him work hard and get something out of it!
I can't wait to see what the years ahead have in store for us!

Last Thursday evening I started having contractions but didn't think too much about it because we were busy.
After the boys went to bed I started timing them and they were 3 to 5 minutes apart!
We decided we better get to the hospital....
...but first we took...what we thought was...the last pregnancy picture...
38 weeks and 4 days!
They got me all hooked up to monitors and watched me for 2 hours...
My contractions were getting stronger and stronger and only 2 minutes apart!
After 2 hours they checked my cervix...it did not change:(
I had gotten too much sun at the pool that afternoon so they thought I was dehydrated so they pumped me FULL of fluids!
Turns out they were correct because as soon as I got the fluids in me the contractions stopped.
They sent me home:(
I've been drinking water and Gatorade like it's my job and I haven't been outside too much.

The show must go on here!
Pierce played in What Cheer last Friday and Cash played in Williamsburg.
I went with Cash and Travis went with Pierce and we met up at the Sundown after with some of Pierce's teammates!

My mom brought me some cupcake goodies on Saturday and asked me to take their picture before heading off to a wedding!

Saturday evening we had family in town from Minnesota so there was a Spratt gathering at my Grandma's farm!
This is just a small fraction of us!
The kids had fun running around and riding bikes!
There are 5 more babies coming in 2016!!
It's always fun when the Spratt's get together!
There's so many of us that it doesn't happen very often...
...but when it does it's sure to be a great time!

Sunday was Father's Day!
I hope all three of these guys had a great day!

And this right here is the story of my life...
I had a text from my sister early this morning...
..."Every morning I wake up hoping for a text from you!"
Not today sister, not today!

I get it ALL the time but Travis isn't always with me.
While eating out in town the other day, after numerous people came up and couldn't believe I was still pregnant, he looked at me and mouthed "LETS GO!"
I guess he can't handle it!!
Bahahahahaha

Soon friends, very, very soon!!!
Stay tuned:)

Insta-Friday

Things are still moving along here!
I haven't taken too many pictures this week but the ones I have taken I've shared on Instagram!
You can find me (@kimheitman) on Instagram!

Travis and I have never been to the Cedar Rapids farmers market so we lined up Grandma Van to watch the boys Saturday morning and we headed to CR!
It was nice to have a few hours kid-free!
Things started out rough...I was having contractions every 10 minutes and I even had to sit down for a few.
Obviously no baby came of it but we did realize is we are not prepared for this baby!
I didn't have my hospital bags packed or anything for the baby!
We came straight home and got everything packed!
Six days later... still no baby... but we are ready!!

We have been spending most of our afternoons and weekends at the pool!
Cash has been begging to see if he's tall enough for the big red slide...
...but when we go during the week I have a toddler that keeps most of my attention.
We went to the pool after the farmers market Saturday and Travis walked him down to measure him!
Sure enough...he was tall enough!!
He was SO excited!!

And this happened....
WARNING: never send a hungry pregnant woman grocery shopping!!
These boys (and myself) are going to have a rude awakening when this baby is born!

I have a day date by myself all set up for June 11th.
I plan to get my nails done and finish up all the shopping for baby!
When I started having contractions Saturday I freaked out that I may not make it to June 11th!
So I did everything on Diapers.com!
Welcome back into my life Diapers.com!

On Sunday Pierce went with the Capper's to Carter's ball tournament so Cash and I headed to the pool!
It's the best place to be when you have swollen feet and ankles!
And to be honest.... my maternity swim suit is my favorite suit I've ever worn!
I'm not self conscious and I don't have to suck my gut in!!

 T-ball and pee-wee continue also!
All three boys were thrilled when I wanted this picture!
Just smile and act like you like it!

This week has been full of appointments!
The boys got their summer buzz, I had my 37 week appointment (not dilated but baby still measuring big! I have another appointment and ultra sound next Tuesday...the day I turn 38 weeks...which is when I had BOTH boys!!) and they had dentist appointments!
Both are cavity free!
Poor Cash developed a fear for the dentist just like his mama when she was younger (okay, I still have it!).
He started crying because he was afraid of her instruments and I got all choked up!
He and I both made it through and he was happy when it was done!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer!

Memorial Day, Anniversary & Gorillas!

School is officially out and summer is here!
Four days in and I'd say it's going good!

We had a great Memorial Day weekend!
Cash and I went to Kadence's dance recital Saturday morning!

We had the Horvath's and Haley over for a BBQ and sparklers!

Like we do every year, we attended the Holbrook Memorial Day service!

After the service we went to Ryan and Amber's for a BBQ and a dip in their pond!
 It was a fun day!!

I was very surprised how brave the boys were jumping off their dock into the water!

We are still in full swing of baseball!
So far the boys have played at different times so I'm able to go to both but this Friday Pierce is in Sigourney and Cash is in Williamsburg.
Travis will go with Pierce and I will go with Cash...divide and conquer!

We had a Spratt family get together for my cousin Jenna becoming a nurse practitioner!
There are three of us cousins pregnant so we got a few pics...and a video that will never be shown;)
I am 36 weeks, Jenna is 30 weeks and Amber is 24 weeks!
Jenna is having a girl (her 5th girl!!), Amber is having a boy and mine is still a mystery!!

I got a pedicure...can you see it?!
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!

~36 weeks~
Cash is my designated baby belly photographer!
He took this (standing on a Rubbermaid) and it only took about 10 takes!
Please ignore the no-makeup, just woke up look!

Today Travis and I are celebrating 9 years of marriage!
It hasn't all been peaches and cream but we're still going strong and I can't imagine life with anyone else!
I never imagined I would be pregnant on our 9th anniversary but here we are:)
I'd say we've created a pretty great life!
We have a busy day of work, spray tans and slow-pitch softball but I'm hoping to sneak in supper together somewhere....kid-free!!
I woke up to this....
I sweet card and a king size Kit Kat....
...he gets me:)

****************************************

I have been thinking and thinking about the Cincinnati gorilla/child tragedy that took place!

If you haven't heard anything about this here's the rundown...
-Parents turn their back for a second on their 3 year old.
-3 year old goes into the gorilla exhibit and falls into the cage with a 400 pound gorilla.
-Crowd freaks out.
-Gorilla drags boys smacking his head on concrete.
-Zoo officials react in minutes and kill the gorilla to save the boys life.
-The whole world is in uproar about the gorilla dying.

I have a lot of opinions but sometimes it's scary to throw yours out there into the world of social media!

Here's what I have to say...

To all of you people saying it's the parents fault and they should be charged for this tragedy...
...I sure hope you're the most perfect parent and have never taken your eye off your child for a second!
Because that's all it takes....ONE SECOND!!
{I work with kids and unfortunately I know!}

I couldn't find Pierce a few weeks ago and he was "missing" for 25 minutes!
I'm just glad he was hiding behind a couch and not in a cage with a 400 pound gorilla!

If that was my child in the cage with the gorilla I would hope the zookeepers would have done the exact same thing and put my child's life before anything else!

Kuddos to you fast thinking zookeepers for saving a child's life!
Hopefully the zoo makes the exhibit safer so this never happens again!!

I pray for peace for the parents because they are human.
No one is perfect...no one!
Simple as that!

There, there's my two cents!
I'm not looking for a debate...
...if you don't like my opinion please don't read it!
Thanks!
