Influenza 2015

Well...it happened again...
Around this time every year my kids get sick...and this year was no different!

There were so many germs floating around between Thanksgiving and Christmas and we avoided them...a miracle really!

I figured the boys would be sick while we were in Punta Cana...and if that was the case my mom was under strict orders NOT to tell me!
Thankfully they were healthy the whole time!

Fast forward to March 6th and this was Pierce :(
Up puking all night (why does it always happen in the middle of the night?!).
He never had a fever but slept all day and wouldn't eat or drink.
Doctors were nervous about strep because he said his throat and teeth hurt so we took him in (mask and all!) and to our surprise he tested positive for Influenza A and B!

They put the whole family on Tamiflu (except Travis who refused to take it!) and Pierce wasn't to have any contact or exposure to anyone for 5 days...FIVE DAYS PEOPLE!!!!

This was our Friday night....
...yeehaw, yeehaw...

That night Pierce slept for 13 hours...
...and he woke up refreshed and good as new the next day!

I was so thankful for Pierce....
....but this is how Cash woke up:(
UGH!!
102.7 temp and tested positive for Influenza B!
He had it totally different then Pierce...Cash was coughing (so much he had to be put on a steroid) and he had a high fever.  Thankfully Cash never threw up and never lost his appetite!

You all know me and the fact that I hate to be at home all weekend (because I'm home all week!).
Well this was almost torture!
We couldn't be around anyone and no one wanted to be around us!
{I'm aware I'm being totally selfish...just give me a minute!}

We HAD to get out of the house and luckily Cash perked up the next day also.
We went for a ride out to Grandma and Grandpa Heitmans to run around outside!

I couldn't be open for daycare on Monday.
The weather is warming up so I sent the boys outside to play and I cleaned all the toys....every...single...toy...!!!  Worst chore ever!
Cannot stand the smell of Lysol and bleach!
It took me a while but it's done...D.O.N.E.!

I guess I should mention we were supposed to be gone that weekend on a Spratt Family fun weekend away!  We had reservations at a hotel with a waterpark in Des Moines and the kids were so excited!
Not only did we have to miss out but my dad canceled the whole weekend for everyone else.
It was a Christmas gift from my parents to the kids and he thought we should use it all together!  We were very thankful for that...but I felt bad for everyone else!
We had some very disappointed kids that weekend:(
We'll just have to make sure it's even more fun...whenever we find a date that works for all of us again!

We had a lot of free time so we played a lot of games (way too many!)...Trouble, UNO, Memory on repeat!
Pierce is practicing his reading and started this Dick and Jane book Gma Heitman gave him!
He's also practicing sounding out words and you can find little scraps of paper all over our house!
I found this one....
"I like my friend"
And this one is my all time favorite....
Awwwwwww..... :)
My heart is full!

Thankfully the boys bounced back quickly and we were back to normal on Tuesday with work and school...
...until Thursday when I started throwing up!
UGH...seriously?!
Don't worry...I didn't take any pictures of that;)

As of today (March 16th) we are all better and hopefully back in our routine for good!!
Bring on Spring and the open windows!

Today is my SIL Amy's 30th Birthday!
She is pregnant with baby #2 so we decided against the typical 30th birthday celebration!

We went to Galena Saturday for a girls day!
Amy thought just she and I were going shopping!
She didn't know about Galena until we picked her up and all the girls in the back yelled SURPRISE!
It was perfect!

The weather was beautiful and it was a lot of fun!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMY!!!

Here's to a new, HEALTHY week!
Happy Monday:)
